BMW Group Thailand, in collaboration with BMW Motorcycle Club Thailand and Waves for Water, have organised the ‘Nam Jai for Nan’ activity, which continues the Care4Water project’s commitment for the eighth year, bringing a caravan to deliver 80 water filter system sets to the Ban Nam Khae Community, Bo Kluea District in Nan Province. In this community, the BMW Motorcycle Club Thailand has initiated the project “Return the Forest to Mother with Father’s coffee” since 2019 to demonstrate the forestry project according to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s initiatives by establishing a fund to support coffee seedlings and forest seedlings to encourage villagers to help conserve the forest. At present, it has been implemented and has seen good results, amounting to more than 300 rai. In addition, BMW Group Thailand together with the BMW Motorcycle Club Thailand have delivered 10 water filtration systems to Khun Nan National Park rangers to support and facilitate the work of forest protection and preservation.
The activity was part of the Care4Water initiative, which started in 2015 with the goal of bringing accessible clean water to areas or communities that do not have sufficient clean water for daily consumption. The project aims to educate people in the local community about the importance of clean water and to share knowledge about water filter maintenance in order to help them improve their quality of life and hygiene in the long term. Additionally, the initiative is one of BMW Group Thailand’s social benefit efforts to push forward the goal of sustainability in both social and environmental aspects in all dimensions of the organisation. The company has established various strategies and long-term goals that are consistent and encompass everything from manufacturing, products and services to the creation of initiatives for employees and society in all aspects.
Throughout the eight years of the Care4Water project, BMW Group Thailand has delivered a total of 7,103 water filter system sets to 96 communities in 32 provinces across Thailand. With appropriate maintenance, the donated filters can process up to 3 million litres of water, and a single filter can benefit as many as 100 persons, making it easier to access clean water as well as helping the villagers to understand the benefits of clean water. The Care4Water project aims to continuously support rural communities lacking access to clean water supply for daily consumption by donating water filters and related accessories for water filtration in daily use, thanks to volunteering efforts among BMW Group Thailand employees, BMW, MINI, BMW Motorrad authorised dealers, media and customers who participated in these activities.
