Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), Bangkok Industrial Gas Co., Ltd. (BIG), Hitachi Zosen Corporation, PTT Public Co., Ltd., Thai Takasago Co., Ltd., Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd., and Toyota Tsusho (Thailand) Co., Ltd. signed an individual Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) as an extension of collaboration of the Smart Park Industrial Estate and Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate towards Carbon Neutrality project.
The project aligns with Thailand’s ambition to achieve a low carbon society through a Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model and aims to contribute to the Thai government’s “Thailand 4.0” vision. The collaboration in the Smart Park Industrial Estate and Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate towards Carbon Neutrality project has been formed since 2021. It aims to conduct a feasibility study and identify benefits and challenges for the implementation and management of clean energy infrastructure such as hydrogen, solar power, bioenergy, and zero-emission transportation.
This MOC extension helps in making the project a step closer to its aim by conducting a feasibility study to demonstrate hydrogen supply (from by-product hydrogen and water electrolysis) and utilization (Fuel cell electric commuter bus service and hydrogen power generator). Moreover, the collaboration also aims to explore the direction for establishing a management company as an affiliate of IEAT to facilitate the transaction between tenants of the Smart Park Industrial Estate and Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate with the clean energy and service provider.
The collaboration is an effort to reduce carbon emissions and dependence on fossil fuels and is expected to reduce carbon footprint and help with the advancement of clean energy. It is an important step to pave the way for future co-development of project demonstrations including those supported by the Japanese Government’s the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) towards achieving Carbon Neutrality and future sustainable energy solutions in Thailand.
