BMW Motorrad Thailand introduces new BMW F 850 GS and BMW F 850 GS Adventure, pumping up new adventure for legendary GS family

BMW Motorrad Thailand brings new excitement beyond boundaries to Thai fans, with the launch of the new BMW F 850 GS and BMW F 850 GS Adventure. Not only do the models precisely blend superb on-road experience with great off-road characteristics, but they also appeal to motorcyclists seeking an introduction to the world of touring enduros.

Design

The strong look and the characteristic fly line of the two models reflects a design that evokes a sense of adventure, which can be felt on every surface, in every corner and line of the motorcycle, from the rear, the front tank, right up to the GS-typical headlamps. The design elements are trimmed to off-road, and you will instantly become attuned to the unique contours from head to toe, giving riders a cool appearance and excitement both on the road and off-road. The new models come in new colour variants, featuring the GS Trophy for BMW F 850 GS and the Kalamata Metallic Matte for BMW F 850 GS Adventure while the Triple Black colour option is available in both models.

The new BMW F 850 GS and BMW F 850 GS Adventure feature new style designations on the fairing side panels of each model. Furthermore, both models now have a 6.5-inch full-colour TFT screen, including convenient connectivity functions and new flashing LED turn indicators as standard and a USB charging device at the front right of the cockpit.

Performance

Both variants are powered by a powerful liquid-cooled 4-valve, in-line 2-cylinder engine with 853 cc capacity and a six-speed gearbox. The engine has two counterbalance shafts and has been meticulously developed to delight with its smoothness, spontaneous response characteristics, impressive pulling power, and low fuel consumption. The engine in the new BMW F 850 GS and the new BMW F 850 GS Adventure generates 70 kW (95 hp) at 8,250 rpm and develops a maximum torque of 92 Nm at 6,250 rpm. The BMW F 850 GS has a top speed of more than 200 km/h, whereas the BMW F 850 GS Adventure has a top speed of 197 km/h, and both models have a fuel consumption of 4.2 litres per 100 km based on WMTC.

Safety

The new BMW F 850 GS and the BMW F 850 GS Adventure come with an upgraded suspension including an upside-down telescopic fork, cast aluminium dual swing arm, pre-load hydraulically adjustable spring and adjustable rebound damping to offer inimitable handling on off-road tracks. The standard ‘Rain’ and ‘Road’ riding modes allow riders to adeptly venture through all kinds of terrain. The model exudes a distinctive sense of adventure, with the addition of Pro riding modes – ‘Dynamic’, ‘Enduro’ and ‘Enduro Pro’. The Dynamic ESA offers Electronic Suspension Adjustment, with automatic load levelling to enhance driving safety and give maximum performance. ABS Pro and DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) are equipped for even more braking and accelerating safety. Modern touches seamlessly blended into the two models include innovations such as Keyless Ride and electronic cruise control, both of which are standard.

The Gear Shift Assistant Pro enables upshifts and downshifts to be made without operation of the clutch – not just in even greater comfort but with added dynamism, too. Moreover, the stainless-steel engine protection bar in the BMW F 850 GS Adventure provides effective protection for the motor housing without compromising the lean angle. The BMW F 850 GS Adventure is available in Kalamata Metallic Matte and Triple Black, while the BMW F 850 GS is available in Triple Black and GS Trophy, all of which signify sporting talent and a spirit of adventure.
